Day-Trip to Metz, France
Metz, France is an hour and a half drive from Kaiserslautern. They are also known to have an amazing Christmas market, with delicious oysters and Glühwein. Are you sold? I was. On a boring weekend, we decided to drive up to Metz for the day. I had found the Metz Kayak Club online, and decided we should venture to Metz and have a day of SUPing and French food. We packed a lunch to save some money up front. The tolls into/out of Metz are €4.20 each way. Considering the roads are nice and uncrowded, I don't mind paying these tolls. When we drove all the way through France to and from our wedding (see here ), I wasn't so happy about paying the tolls, but for a day-trip, it's not a big issue. Can't forget the DP! We took our stand-up paddleboards into the Moselle, and made our way upstream into downtown. The river runs directly through the town, so you are able to view everything from the river.
